Lemonade for Good: How a Simple Stand Can Change Lives

Did you know that a lemonade stand is part of our founding story at Help One Now? 🍋

Years ago, kids set up a simple stand to raise money for children in Zimbabwe—and that small act of generosity helped spark something much bigger. It reminded us that anyone, no matter their age, can make a real difference.

This summer, we want to invite your family to be part of that legacy by hosting your own lemonade stand for Help One Now! It’s a fun, hands-on way to teach kids about compassion, creativity, and the joy of giving back.

Below, you’ll find everything you need to get started—step-by-step instructions, signs, and ideas to make your stand a success. Let’s make this a summer of purpose, one glass at a time! 💛

How to Set Up a Lemonade Stand

What You’ll Need:

Supplies for Making Lemonade:

  • Lemonade Powder (Or Lemons and Sugar!)

  • Water (cold or ice-cold)

  • Ice (to keep drinks cold)

  • Pitcher or large drink dispenser

  • Cups (paper or plastic – preferably eco-friendly)

  • Spoon or whisk (for mixing)

Optional: Flavored syrups (like strawberry or mint), reusable straws, or a cooler for extra storage

Stand Setup:

  • Table (card table, folding table, etc.)

  • Chair(s) (for you and possibly a friend/helper)

  • Signage (bright, bold signs with prices and “LEMONADE” in large letters)

  • Cash box or container for money (or a digital payment method like Venmo/QR code)

  • Napkins or paper towels (for spills)

  • Trash bag/bin

  • Hand sanitizer or wipes for cleanliness

Best Time of Day:

  • Late Morning to Mid-Afternoon (10:30 AM – 3:30 PM) is usually best, especially on:

    • Hot, sunny days when people are more likely to want a cold drink

    • Weekends, or days with community events, garage sales, or sports games nearby

Best Places to Set Up:

  • Neighborhood with good foot traffic

  • Park entrance or near a playground

  • Near a local sports field or community center

  • Outside a busy yard sale (with permission)

  • At the end of your driveway (if your street gets good traffic)

Tip: Always ask for permission if you’re setting up outside your property or in front of a business or public place.

 Extra Tips for Success:

  • Be friendly and polite—smiles sell!

  • Keep prices simple (e.g., $1 per cup or 2 for $1.50)

  • Have a parent or guardian nearby for safety and help

  • Practice making your lemonade ahead of time so it tastes great
